Look into the WBCC Homepage: http://www.geocities.com/RodeoDrive/7513/wbcc/wbcc.html Also got very interesting material about the ancient French Bi-metallics. Show news and PR.............By Kyle Mutcher, Canada I've been asked to display my Bi-metallic coin collection at the Manitoba Coin Club show on Nov. 1+2 in Winnipeg. I was preparing a display but I was wondering if you or any of the members had any suggestions. I plan to show the British and Canadian trial tokens with a description of the production. I also plan to show the coins and the bank notes that they replaced. I would be interested in any information, stories or suggestions. I plan to also promote the WBCC, show some of the items that I aquired from members of the club and the information that we share. Hopefully we will find a few new members. Any info, or help would be appreciated, Kyle Mutcher, E-mail: kmutcher@mb.sympatico.ca 8. Bickford Dollar.......By Cliff Anderson, USA After the printed data on the Bickford Dollars quoted out of the "So Called Dollars" publication (by Harold E. Hibler and Charles V. Kappenin) in WBCC Newsmail 41 on 23 May 1997, I have some more: The Bickford Dollar now appearing in the WBCC Homepage shows former Civil War General Ulysses S. Grant, and President of the U.S. 1869 to 1877. He died in 1885, so when the Bickford Dollar was issued in 1897, he had been deat 12 years. That's probably why it shows Grant's Tomb surrounding Grant's bust in the brass center plug. Dana Bickford, who says he "invented and protected" the Bickford Dollar, used the phrase "Dana Bickford, Des." just under Grant's face. I cannot find any data on Dana Bickford, but this phrase seems to imply that Bickford was a descendant of Grant himself. If so, that would explain why Grant is used as an icon for the piece. I found one Bickford Dollar (HK 834) through a dealer named Don Rose in Nevada (no website or email), and the U. S. Grant one (HK 636) through Shenandoah Exonumia (website at dgreenfi@shentel.net). The last time I looked, Shenandoah may have had one listed. It might be worth a inquiry if anyone wants to obtain it. I cannot recall its price in the listing, but I paid $35 and $38 for my two. 10 UK Bi-metallic 2 Pound 1997 Piedfort...By Martin Peeters, Netherlands This week I've got finally the UK Bi-metallic 2 Pound 1997 Piedfort.
