2. Bi-metallic 20 Bolivares 1989 from Venuzuela (2)........by Sean
Moffatt, USA
I noticed in WBCC last weeks Newsmail 623 a picture of a Venezuela 20 Bolivar
Bi-metallic. It is mis-labled as a Bolivia issue in the Newsmail. But, this
is the coin I sent you a partial picture of and wrote an article about back
around Feburary 1998 after I had a visit from a Deutsche Nickel sales representitive
Jochen Heuermann. He had some of these trial strikes with him but was not
allowed to give them out. I found the sales brochure with the picture I sent
that I received from him (see attached scan, the 20 bolivar is in the lowest
picture box near the bottom left), and I actually found my notes from the
sales meeting that took place in January '98 inside the brochure. These 20
Bolivars were patterns, at the time of the visit there were only 5 - 10 pieces
in existance. Apparently they were never released. The text below the bust
on the coin is Espanol for pattern or trial. It is very interesting to me
that one or some of these pieces may of got out into the market place
