UK Bi-metallic 2 Pound................By Andrew, UK I don't know if you are aware that the bimetallic UK 2 pound is now freely available in sets from the UK mint (and other distributors). I ordered the uncirculated set and, when it arrived, immediately liberated the coins from the plastic packaging. I now walk around with both the Bi-metallic 2 pound coin and the new smaller 50p coin in my pocket. Quite a few people agree with me in that the obverse is especially attractive while the reverse is not so good. The "wobbly" centre of the reverse has people looking at the coin from all angles. 8. Encased coins...................By Bryan Ryker, USA On the related topic of encased coins, I thought I'd tell you that the second annual meeting of ACE (Associated Collectors of encased) was held in Indianapolis, Indiana on April 12th at the Central States Numismatic Society's 58th annual convention. I was pleased to meet the club's founder there, Jerry Binsfeld. At the meeting the club voted to establish a standard convention for catalog numbers for encased coins. They also voted to establish a standard convention for documenting the inscriptions on encased coins. The address for ACE, it"s: ACE P.O. Box 191 Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158 USA Dues are $7.00 US. ACE publishes a quarterly journal. 9. Singapore Bi-metallic 10 Dollar...By Martin Peeters Netherlands I have for trading the Bi-metallic 10$ Singapore 1992, 1996 and 1997. They are all in a set. Italian Bi-metallic 1000 and 2000 Lire....By Fabio Guerrieri, Italy The Italian ministry of Finances and the Bank of Italy are communicate that in 1997 will be issued the new 1000 and 2000 Bi-metal, but at the moment I don't know the date of issues and the motive. The Italian administration is very confusing. 11. Armenian Bi-metallic??...........By Micheal Ayrapetov, USA The roumer is that Armenia (former Soviet Union) has plans to make a own Bi-metallic coin. Further details unkwon yet. 12. Visiting a Coinsow.....By Martin Peeters, Netherlands Last sunday I visited a coinshow in the city Tilburg, The Netherlands. There were about 40 coindealers and the most of them had Bi-metallics on their tables. Unfortunally not any Bi-metallic I don't have, except one: A coindealer had a Bi-metallic FALSE 5 Zlotych 1995 of Poland. The conterfeiting one can see, by turning the Bi-metallic on a flat table, the coin is turning and turning, so it is not flat. 13.
