Australian Bi-metallic Tokens..........By Frans Woons, Canada Altamira, an investment company here in Canada, has produced some brochures showing three different Bi-metallic tokens. I have contacted Altamira to discover whether these tokens exist. I was told that they do NOT exist but I will be contacted by Altamira if it is decided to produce them. 6. Roumer?.........................................By Cliff Anderson, USA Just today iin the mail I got an informal bimetal listing from a dealer in Missouri that indicates that Eritrea issued a 1996 $10 bimetal coin, but it doesn't show a KM number or any other detail. I don't know any more about it, just that appearance on his "International Bi-metal Coins" list. If you don't already know about it, let me know and I'll ask him about it. Maybe it's like the Djibouti coin one of the WBCC members mentioned recently, a rumor? 7. Encased coins..............................By Jeffrey Timmons, USA I am fortunate to live near Portland (Oregon), where there are a number of stores that sell coins. Unfortunately, there are few Bi-metallic items available. And what is usually available has been already circulated. However, I have found a number of encased pennies. One that I have found especially fascinating is from the 1904 World's Fair in St. Louis, USA. On the obverse, it says 'Lucky Penny Pocket Piece, I Bring Good Luck.' On the reverse, it says "World's Fair, St. Louis - 1904". It also has two four-leaf clovers. The Indian Head penny is dated 1904, and seems to be in the condition of "Very Fine." Another encased penny that I found has the outer ring shaped like a horse-shoe. The penny is a Lincoln cent from 1927 (P). On one side, it has the usual saying 'Keep Me and You Will Never Go Broke.' On the other side, it says 'Souvenir of Washington DC.' The penny is in about 'Fine' condition. Here is a list of encased pennies that I have found so far: CANADA: 1Cent 1970, "Windsor Canada. Imported" (Reverse) "The Smallest Whiskey Ever to Come Out of Canada." (Obverse) UNITED STATES: 1 Cent 1904 "World's Fair St. Louis. 1904" (Obverse) 1 Cent 1927 (Philidelphia) "Souvenir of Washington DC" The outer ring is shaped like a horseshoe 1 Cent 1946 (P) "Russel H. Fluent Good Goverment" 1 Cent 1949 (P) Rexall One Cent Sale "Save at the Rexall One Cent Sale" (Reverse) 1 Cent 1949 (Denver) "For Distinguished Service by the BENDIX Automatic Washer in 2,000,000 Homes" "You Can Be Lucky As 2,000,000 Bendix Owners" 1 Cent 1950 (Both Denver and Philidelphia) "Dr. Drake's Glesco Cough Relief Good Luck Penny Token, For Groupy Coughs Due to Colds" (Obverse) "Glesco For Adults Cough Relief Good For the First Swallow" (Reverse) 1 Cent 1963 (Philidelphia ?) "Southern Idaho Coin Club 6th Annual Coin Show" "Nov. 8,9,10 63' Boise, Idaho" 1 Cent 1971(D) "Tuscon Federal Savings & Loan Assoc. Since, 1937" 8.
