For the future it looks good for Bi-metallics.
For example:

Great-Brittain will make a 2 Pound Bí-metallic in 1997.

The EU will produce Bi-metallic Euro's (1 and 2 Euro) in the year 2002. It
is not to say which countries of the EU will go for it that time.
