WBCC Newsmail 18, december 14, 1996 ----------------------------------------------------------- After my computercrash last weekend I've got good reactions from many members of the Worldwide Bi-metallic Collectors Club (WBCC) for help, thanks. The system is now working well again, and ofcourse you can read now the weekly WBCC Newsmail with again HOT Bi-metallic news. 1. Hot Bi-metallic news....By Tony Chibbaro This week I received a new Bi-metallic coin from Hungary. It is dated 1996 and the face value is 100 Forint. The outer ring seems to be stainless steel and the inner ring is aluminum-bronze. It measures about 23mm in diameter. The obverse has the words MAGYAR KOZTARSASAG around the periphery, with the national crest in the middle. The reverse has 100 FORINT with laurel or oak leaves around the periphery. I received this Bi-metallic with a price that was a very reasonable $2.00 or so plus postage from the coindealer:. Robert Burg 643 Broadway #172 Saugus, MA 01906 USA. 2. Hot Bi-metallic Piefort Euro news.........By Martin Peeters In a new series of Euros (5, 20 and 40 Euros) Liechtenstein has made a new Bi-metallic Piefort 40 Euro 1996. The first Piefort Euro ( !! ) in Ag and (?). The occasion is the 190 years sovereignity and on the obverse there is The Golden Carriage, mintage 500, 38.61 mm and 46 grams. It is only made in proof and cost 90 Swiss Francs. To obtain by: Coin Invest Trust Valduz P.O. Box 125 FL-9490 Valduz Liechtenstein Fax. +41 75 232 0317 This commercial firm offers the 1996 Italian set (10 coins) with the Bi-metallic 500 Lire in Proof for 115 Swiss Francs and the 1996 set in UNC for 65 Swiss Francs. 3. First Bi-metallic Piefort................By Martin Peeters In Coin World frontpage article of November 11th. there was reported that the Canadian 2$ Polarbear was the first Bi-metallic Piefort ever made. We know that's not correct. In 1995 (JE 5755) Israel has made the first Bi-metallic Piefort 10 New Shekel in a Piefort set called "Medice without Borders". 4. France 20 Franc 1992 variations............ By Jean Verleg The France Tri-metallic 20 Franc of 1992, Mont. St. Michel, has many varitions. There is 'normal' piece, pieces with an edge with 4 or 5 sectors, with plain edge, Gold/SilverGold and Silver/Gold/Silver pieces and a pices in Essai (trial) quality. No I have found another variation. The connection (observe) between the outer ring and inner ring is normally with a little rised border. The variation I have the little rised border is sunked into the coin. 5. Coindealers ad.............By Arthur Murray, USA I saw a full page ad from Scotsman Coin in St. Louis Mo. USA on Bi-metallics for buying and selling. He is selling 50 roubles Bi-metallics from Russia 5 from 1993 and 5 from 1994 for $9.95 and five Bi-metallics from different countries (Bahrain-Ecuador-Italy-San Marino) for $7.95. 6. Message from Daniel Gosling, Edmonton Numismatic Society, Canada "I very much enjoy receiving your weekly newsletter. I have printed past issues of your newsletter and given them to members of our local coin club (including James Kindrake). I also mailed a copy to Jerry Remick. I haven't read the last two however. The last issue of our club newsletter contained a printout of our earlier email messages as well as 2-3 of your weekly reports. Have you visited the Edmonton Numismatic Society homepage at http://www.compusmart.ab.ca/dang since I changed the layout? At the end of James Kindrake's article on Bi-metallic Coins I added links to your club homepage as well as an email link to Larry Friemel. I hope I have these links correct. Please advise me of any changes/additions. Shortly I will start forwarding your newsletter to J. Kindrake (the firm he works at has an email address and I didn't want to start forwarding too many messages in the beginning). You could probably add our club secretary Mike Schneider, mikeys@oanet.com to your list of recipients. Keep up the great work." 7. Again a new member......By WBCC Focal Point Tim Grubbs from the USA has become a member of the Worldwide Bi-metallic Collectors Club and has the folowing question: "I received the catalog today Dec. 12, thank you very much. I now have a total of 4 Bi-metallic coins in my collection, they say the journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Well I guess I am 4 steps into it. I don't think it is necessary to send the Feb. catalog. At this point in time I don't have anything to contribute. I would like to become a member. Do you have any coins to sell or trade? Coin shows in my city don't have much to offer in the way of foreign coins, and I haven't found any dealers who sell them." Tim Grubbs, E-mail: Tazz447@aol.com 8. Eugene Canham sell list....By Focal Point WBCC Eugene Camham has a large list (more than 200) of Bi-metallics for sale.
